Dads R Parents Too! is based in San Ramon, California. The organization grew out of informal meetings comprised of John Valentine and several of his friends. All the founding members had been experiencing the hardships associated with failing marriages, custody battles and disintegrating family units during the same period of time.

The meetings were originally commiseration sessions, but evolved into more, as the fathers began to benefit from talking about their pain, suffering and concerns for their future as Dads. They also learned they could gain very beneficial information about the law from sharing their experiences with one another.

Each of the "original" Dads was successful in rebuilding his life and re-establishing his role as father to his children. It was at this point the group began to realize the meetings were responsible for providing the support (legal, moral, emotional and spiritual) they had needed to succeed.

They decided to continue the meetings and began to invite "friends of friends", other Dads who were currently going through the same darkness from which they had all once emerged.

Since that time, Dads R Parents Too! has helped innumerable fathers come to terms with the radical changes wrought by divorce, untimely death and myriad other challenges posed by fatherhood.

We are located in the same complex as UC Berkeley Extension in San Ramon.
